The Christmas season at the library is amazing, spectacular, and fun-filled. In my opinion, it’s just as exciting as Summer Experience at the library. Our staff have been diligently planning fantastic programs for our patrons months in advance. This December, bring the kids to make memories and enjoy some quality family time at the library.
MRS. CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN & MORE HOLIDAY-THEMED FUN!
Mrs. Claus will be visiting our branches, so bring your kids for photo ops and story times.
The Thibodaux Library will be hosting a Doctor Who Christmas Special on Thursday, December 12 at 2:30pm. Join us for a fantastic Doctor Who-themed gathering with wibbly-wobbly games and activities! Registration is required to attend, so don’t wait to reserve your spot.
Then, on Friday, December 27th, you won’t want to miss the Hat Trick Magic Show. Magician David Leboeuf enchants children of all ages with a combination of magic, humor, and audience participation for a uniquely entertaining show. The first showing will be at the Lockport American Legion at 11:00am, and the second showing will be at the Warren J. Harang Auditorium at 3:00pm.
Our Choctaw, Lockport, South Lafourche Storefront, and Thibodaux branches are celebrating the coming of Christmas with a Christmas Lodge Escape Room. Join us for a Christmas-themed escape room as we hunt for the missing tree topper. Can you find it in time to start the festivities?
This is just a sampling of the many activities we have planned at the library for the Christmas season. To see more activities at your local library, visit lafourche.librarycalendar.com or pick up a calendar next time you visit your local branch. While you’re visiting the library, don’t forget to check out some items. The colder temperatures and longer hours of darkness create a perfect environment for you and your family to cozy up and relax with the plethora of resources we have available.
LEARN TO CODE @ THE LIBRARY!
Lastly, for those who enjoy coding and gaming, you’ll want to check out CodeCombat. CodeCombat is an adventure game that uses real typed code and game-based learning to teach computer science. Designed for those new to coding, CodeCombat teaches true Python, JavaScript, and C++ programming languages using human, beginner-friendly terms.
To create your free CodeCombat account, go to codecombat.com/library/lafourche/login. You’ll need your library card and PIN to login. You can also link your CodeCombat account with your Roblox account to experience the easiest and most enjoyable way to code and create your own Roblox games.
We love our patrons and can’t wait to see you at the library! We hope you’ll enjoy the many Christmas -themed events and activities we have planned for you this December. From our library family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! - Crystal, Technical Services Librarian
