LIBRARY CARD MEMBERSHIP MONTH
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up (Membership) Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs-up for their own library card. And it's not just for kids - adults are welcome to sign-up for a library card, as well!

Throughout the year, public librarians and library staff assist parents and caregivers with saving hundreds of dollars on educational resources and services for students. From free access to STEAM programs/activities, educational apps, in-person and virtual homework help, technology workshops to the expertise of librarians, a library card is one of the most cost effective back to school supplies available.

ONE CARD, ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!
This September, Lafourche Parish Public Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover how a single card can open the door to endless opportunities.
With a library card, you can do more than check out books. From free classes and job resources to homework help, streaming media, and cultural events, today’s libraries connect communities to information, inspiration, and each other.
This year’s theme, “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” is a reminder that libraries are for everyone—no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you're diving into a new hobby, searching for your next great read, brushing up on tech skills, or helping your child succeed in school, it all starts with a library card. It may be small, but a library card packs a mighty punch.
Borrow museum passes (coming soon!), hotspots, and even Maker equipment from your library’s collection. Take part in engaging programs like book clubs, homeschooling groups, crafting classes, and Makerspace workshops. Access technology, Wi-Fi, and career resources to support your goals, whether you're a student, job seeker, entrepreneur, or lifelong learner.

HOW TO CELEBRATE THIS SEPTEMBER
During September, we are celebrating all of our library card members, whether you are just joining us or have been a loyal library lover for years!

When you visit our branches this month and either register for your first LPPLibrary card or upgrade your current card to our new system for free, you will receive the following members-only perks, while supplies last:

Each branch is hosting a program in September that highlights what is possible at the library! These programs are planned around resources, services, and equipment that you may not know are available through your library, so stop by to learn something new. Explore homework help, online crafting classes, Adventure Kits, 3D printing and more @ your Lafourche Parish Public Library!

Bring a Friend or Family Member

Libraries are better when shared together! This month, we are asking our current library members to bring in a friend or family member who is not currently a Lafourche Parish Public Library member to show them what's possible @ the library!

During the month of September, if you bring in a library newbie to register for a library card or attend a program with someone who is new to the library, your name will be entered into a drawing for some LPPL swag prizes.
