THANK YOU, LAFOURCHE

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out in support of the library in the May 16 election.  Your support means a great deal to us, and we are truly grateful for those who value the services we provide to our communities.

At this time, we are still assessing what the results will mean for the future of the library system.  While we do not have all the answers yet, we remain committed to continuing services for as long as possible.

What Happens Next

As a result of the election outcome, we will need to begin making adjustments, including reducing certain services, in order to conserve funds and extend how long we can remain open and serving the public.

Looking to the Future

We are hopeful we will have the opportunity to return to voters later this year for another chance to fund our libraries for the future.

Your Voice Matters

In the meantime, we encourage you to continue using and supporting the library, but also to take action:

  • Talk to your friends, family, and neighbors about what the library means to you.

  • Share how our services impact your life and our community.

  • Stay informed, stay engaged, and when the opportunity comes to vote again, please stand with us at the polls.

Our Promise to You

Our future depends on the support of our community, and your voice truly makes a difference.  We remain dedicated to our vision, mission, and the communities we serve throughout Lafourche.  We will continue to keep you informed as we determine next steps.

SUMMER EXPERIENCE 2026 UPDATE

Our patrons remain our top priority.

We are proud to confirm our commitment to our annual Summer Experience as planned throughout this June and July, utilizing funds that were previously allocated for this well-loved program, including multiple grants and a generous donation from the Friends of the Thibodaux Library.  This ensures that local families will continue to have access to entertaining, enriching, and educational activities that will keep children engaged all summer long.

During this time, we remain entirely dedicated to serving our patrons while thoughtfully determining the next steps for the future of our library system.
