OUR LIBRARY IS ON THE BALLOT

Lafourche Parish Public Library will be on your Saturday, May 16, 2026 ballot for the RENEWAL of the library system's 1.67 and 4.11 mills property taxes, which fund 96% of Lafourche Parish Public Library's budget for 10 years.

This renewal is NOT a new tax.  Lafourche Parish Public Library is requesting the same 1.67 and 4.11 mills that have been in place since 1987 and 1996, respectively.

The millage funds the acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining, and/or operating of all ten locations of Lafourche Parish Public Library's award-winning library system.

What is a library millage?

  • One mill represents one dollar for every $1,000 of a property's taxable value.

  • A renewal of a library millage is voted on by the community to continue the collection of this tax to fund the library system.
