Spirit, let's hear it, library lovers! We invite you to come out for our third annual Spirit Week in celebration of National Library Week, April 20-25, 2026. This year's theme is "Find Your Joy," and we have a week's worth of fun planned for celebrating the ultimate "happy place" - your Lafourche Parish Public Library!
We will have themed activities at our branches every day during Spirit Week, including promos, themed dress days, activities, and more. Check out our schedule of events below& make plans to join us!

Monday, April 20: Joy of Reading & Learning Day
Unlock a world of wonder every time you open a new book! Whether you're mastering a new skill or diving into a good read, there's no limit to what you can learn at the library. Finding joy at your happy place is just a page-turn away!
How to Celebrate Joy of Reading & Learning Day:

Wear: Wear bookish clothing that celebrates libraries & reading or an outfit representing your favorite school or college to promote learning.

Do: Fill a bag of books & magazines from our Friends of the Library Book Sale for $2, while supplies last. Bags will be provided. Plus, shop our 2-for-$1 DVD sale.

Tuesday, April 21: Joy of Exploration & Discovery Day
Where will you go today? From hidden galaxies to forgotten history, every shelf of the library is a new map waiting to be unfolded. Lose yourself in the library and discover a whole new world!
More than just books, they bring the joy! Today we recognize our stellar staff in honor of National Library Workers Day, and celebrate the many ways that they make Lafourche Parish Public Library a vibrant and welcoming "happy place!"
How to Celebrate Joy of Exploration and Discovery Day:

Wear: Wear space, sparkly, or star-themed clothing in honor of our "all-star" staff and the joy of exploration and discovery that they spark in our patrons every day.

Do: Acknowledge staff members who are "out of this world" by nominating them for a Staff Star at your local branch or by messaging us on social media.
