Adventure Kits & Portable Story Time Kits with Lynette

If you’re looking for STEAM activities for your family, Adventure Kits are the perfect option for you. Kits include themed hands-on activities, companion books, and an inventory list to help you keep track of items. 

Early literacy and primary grades kits include Sound Discovery, Bugs and Insects, Color and Light, Rhyme Time, and On the Farm.

Middle grades to teens might be interested in a Microscope Adventure, the Human Body, Simple Machines, and a Metal Detector adventure. 

With nine kits in all and a 21-day loan period, children of all ages can explore, discover, and engage in STEAM learning on their own or with the family.  Kit availability varies between library branches, but all are deliverable to your nearest branch. So, check ahead for specific kit requests, and let the adventure begin.

Portable Story Time Kits is a new service we offer to home daycare providers. Kits include books, songs, fingerplays, and multi-sensory activities that appeal to 4- and 5-year-olds preparing for school. Aligned to early learning themes and designed to build kindergarten readiness, these story times in a bag include everything needed for robust literacy experiences.

Monthly kit deliveries from August to May place tools in the hands of childcare providers enabling them to provide interactive story times outside of a library.  Inventory lists are included to help keep track of items. 

Themes include Community Helpers, Colors, Weather, Nursery Rhymes, Move It! (exercise & movement), Feelings and Emotions, Beach and Ocean, Gardening and Growing, Foods We Eat, and Transportation.
