Within the pages of Every Way with Granny Crochet, Julia Madill shows us how to take the classic granny crochet stitch and make 50 different shapes with it! 50!
Beginning with an explanation of exactly what a granny stitch is, Madill quickly advances to a tutorial of the very basic shape of granny square. And who doesn’t love a granny square? The fun doesn’t stop with the classics though! Throughout the book, the reader can learn how to make circles, rectangles, heart, and even (and this is personal my favorite) an egg shape!
Or an avocado, if you’re into that.
Madill talks readers through gauge, right-side vs. wrong-side of a project, and a little about color choices. After the section with all of the shapes, the reader is taken through blocking and exactly what that means, as well as sewing their new shapes together to create a bigger, amazing project! Borders are also briefly mentioned.
Every Way is a must-see for anyone who loves all things crochet! Perhaps, like me, you just needed to add some projects to your TBC (to be crocheted) list. Or maybe you are new to crochet and want to see all of the delightful things you can make! This book is a gem for both beginner and advanced crochet-folk alike! While I have made granny squares for projects for years, I can now add a little more fun to my crochet bags, sweaters, blankets, and more!
Madill includes so many pictures and the tutorials are very easy to understand. This book is truly a treasure to anyone who is interested in crocheting with the classic granny stitch while adding some excitement to their projects! - Brittany, Branch Associate
