LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-Up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs-up for their own library card. And it's not just for kids - adults are welcome to sign-up for a library card, as well!
Throughout the year, public librarians and library staff assist parents and caregivers with saving hundreds of dollars on educational resources and services for students. From free access to STEAM programs/activities, educational apps, in-person and virtual homework help, technology workshops to the expertise of librarians, a library card is one of the most cost effective back to school supplies available.

Get in Your Element this September - sign up for a library card!
From borrowing books, DVDs, and video games to getting homework help, learning new skills, or attending story time, a library card helps you do more of what you enjoy.
Get a library card and dive into a new hobby. Use your library card to tinker in a maker space and spark your creativity. A library card is your most important school supply — it's elemental, really — and everyone should have one!
HOW TO CELEBRATE THIS SEPTEMBER
Are you an earth, air, water, or fire library lover? The characters of Disney's Elemental are the spokespeople of Library Card Sign-Up Month 2023, and we are inviting you to visit our libraries this September to discover which element lives inside you!
When you visit our branches this month, you will be invited to take a library lover personality quiz which will determine your element! Once you discover your element, take a photo with our element-themed props and grab a souvenir button to show off your element pride!
Discovering your element is more fun with a friend! Invite a library newbie to come out and discover their element and sign-up for their own Lafourche Parish Public Library card!
