Can the Superpigs save Christmas? The Three Little Superpigs: Merry Christmas is Claire Evans’ newest installment of the Superpigs picture book series and it's out right in time for the holidays.
The three little pigs return this time attending the annual Winter Wonderland Festival in Fairyland when they learn that Santa and his reindeer are missing. The pigs are on the case as they look for clues and chase down leads only to find out that Santa is not who they expected him to be.
As this is the first book of the series I have read I wasn’t aware that it was a fractured fairy tale but this twist of the classic Three Little Pigs story is perfect for all ages. The twist on the original fairytale will capture the attention of adults who grew up with the original and the colorfully detailed, cartoon-like illustrations will draw in young readers. The writing is a mixture of simple text with a few more advanced vocabulary thrown. The story has a great flow and Christmas message which makes it great to share as a bedtime story. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series and I hope you will check them out too.Â
