Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Biblioteca Hispana

The Biblioteca Hispana Branch invites the public to participate in its Cinco de Mayo Open House Friday, May 4th from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Come visit us and see our new library at 1403 North Bayou Drive, Golden Meadow.

Refreshments will be served.

Thibodaux Branch Library to Host Manga Drawing Class for Teens

Area teens interested in manga drawing can attend the Thibodaux Branch Library's Manga Drawing Class for beginners at 5:00 p.m. on May 3. Registration is required to attend. To register, call the library at 447-4119. The library is located at 705 W. Fifth Street.

South Lafourche Branch Library to host annual Mother's Day Tea Party

Children of all ages and their mothers, stepmothers, and grandmothers are invited to the South Lafourche Branch Library's annual Mother's Day Tea Party from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on May 8. Enjoy tea and cake and other refreshments and an opportunity for some quality time with the family.

The library is located at 16241 E. Main Street in Cut Off.

Genealogy Programs at Two Lafourche Parish Library Branches

Thibodaux Branch Library

Get help in charting your family tree from volunteer genealogists at the Thibodaux Branch Library, 705 W. Fifth Street, at 9:30 a.m. on May 10.

Registration is required to attend. To register, call the library at 447-4119.

South Lafourche Branch

Join others who share an interest in genealogy when the Genealogy Volunteer Interest Group meets from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on May 10 at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 16241 E. Main Street in Cut Off.

Make a Spring Wreath at the Bayou Blue Branch Library

Adults can make a spring wreath at 1:30 p.m. on May 17 at the Bayou Blue Branch Library, 198 Mazerac Street.

Veterans Affairs reps to visit Lockport Branch Library

Representatives of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs will be available to meet with local veterans at the Lockport Branch Library, 720 Crescent Avenue, at 9:00 a.m. on May 8 and May 22.

Make candy sushi at the Thibodaux Branch Library

Teens can learn to make candy sushi and enjoy an anime movie at 5:00 p.m. on May 24 at the Thibodaux Branch Library, 705 W. Fifth Street. Registration is required to attend. To register, call the library at 447-4119.

Thibodaux Branch Library to Host Teen Lock-In

Teens ages 13 to 17 can enjoy games, activities, movies, and snacks overnight at the library's Teen Lock-In from 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26 to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 27. Registration is required to attend. To register, call the library at 447-4119.

South Lafourche Branch to Offer Manga Drawing Class

Children ages 11 to 17 wanting to learn to draw in the Manga art style can attend a Manga Drawing Class at 10 a.m. on May 26 at the South Lafourche Branch Library, 16241 E. Main Street in Cut Off.

Goodbye to School, Hello Summer Break

Children ages 10 and up are invited to bid farewell to school and say "hello" to summer at the Choctaw Branch Library's Tween & Teen Get Together at 1:00 p.m. on May 30. Enjoy games, Wii, music, refreshments and more to welcome in summer break. The library is located at 1887 Choctaw Road.

Make tote bags at the Bayou Blue Branch

Tweens (those ages 8 to 12) and teens are invited to make puff-painted drawstring tote bags at 3:00 p.m. on April 20 at the Bayou Blue Branch Library, 198 Mazerac Street.

This program is free and open to the public.

South Lafourche Branch Library to host
LSU AgCenter gardening program

The LSU AgCenter will host a gardening program on perennials and annuals at 2:00 p.m. on April 24 at the South Lafourche Public Library, 16241 E. Main Street.

This program is free and open to the public.
